The Derby Festival Adidas Classic

By: Brant Bond

above are the player introductions^

Well I had a great time at the Derby Classic and found myself watching the action taking place on the Jumbo screen where fans could text messages to be displayed for everyone in Freedom Hall to see. I was disappointed however that my message, "T-Will has a 14 word vocabulary," never appeared on the Jumbo Screen but I will live.

The basketball action was good as well, and I was very impressed with Ater Majok. This guy is the real deal, not only do you recognize his length, athleticism, and immense talent. But his work ethic and competitiveness was very apparent as well, this guy plays to win. I also was very happy to see him throw the famous Ramel Bradley Dynasty Sign, after scoring a bucket. Majok knocked down two 3's had several nice mid range jump shots and a couple of dunks, but it was also impressive to watch him handle the ball running the floor. I would love to see Ater Majok and Patrick Patterson in our front court.

Paul McCoy impressed as well, and I've heard that his parents have been in Lexington all day. And they, "Love Billy Gillispie." The word is that McCoy cant wait to sign. Paul would give us a Perimeter threat and a great athlete the guy has the ability to get to the rim and his defensive ability is great.

DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller didnt get many touches on the ball, but they will be ready to play at UK from day 1. They have great size for young men and Liggins ability to create and dish the ball is very impressive.

Kentucky Barnstorming Dates

Photobucket

By: Brant Bond

Here is the final list for the Barnstorming Event:

April 18 — Christian County High School, Hopkinsville, Kentucky

April 23 — Perry County Central High School, Hazard, Kentucky

April 24 — Paducah Tilghman High School, Paducah, Kentucky

April 26 — East Jessamine High School, Nicholasville, Kentucky

April 30 — Allen County High School, Scottsville, Kentucky

May 1 — Boyd County High School, Ashland, Kentucky

May 2 — Scott High School, Florence, Kentucky

May 3 — Knox Central High School, Barbourville, Kentucky

May 9 — Bowling Green High School, Bowling Green, Kentucky

May 10 — North Bullitt High School, Shepherdsville (outside Louisville), Kentucky

It will be the first time in 5 years since the Tradition of Barnstorming will be finally back. It has been a tradition in this state for some time now and because of lack in organization over the past couple of years it has kind of fallen of the back end. But there is a new Barnstorming group who are hoping to keep the Tradition alive for years to come. It gives folks who might not of had the chance to watch these guys play this year to see them before they go, or maybe those of us who were fortunate enough to watch them to see them again. Other Wildcats will be playing in this event as well such as, Bobby Perry, Scott Padgett, Jeff Sheppard, Lukaz Orbzut, and Randolph Morris. They will be great events so you must try and get out to see them.

At every event Joe and Ramel will be signing autographs and T-shirts and posters will be available as well as the infamous "Fear the WOO" T-shirt
