Only 6 months until basketball season begins. I must say that I am more excited about next year than I have been about a basketball season in a long while, and if you know me then that is quite a statement. So just how far could they go? How good are they going to be?
If you would of asked me about the chances of Kentucky playing in March after the losses to Gardner Webb, San Diego, and Houston. I would of told you that they would be dancing but in my gut I would have known that they wouldn't. What Billy G did to turn things around during this past season were phenomenal. The game at Tennessee, I saw the greatest effort I have seen out of a Kentucky team in a good while. In that game you saw the beginnings of something GREAT in Lexington.
So how long will take for us to have another National Championship banner hanging in Rupp Arena? I think you could see one hang in Rupp's Rafters in 2009 if, we are completely healthy. A 100% Derrick Jasper, Jodie Meeks, and Patrick Patterson is what we need to hang our 8th banner in Rupp. I think that if we get that we will witness another banner fly. And the Bluegrass is hungry, I'm hungry for another championship. I'm ready to see Kentucky holding the Championship trophy at the end of CBS's One Shining Moment again. I'm so ready to be at the pinnacle again, and we will be there sooner than anyone thinks.
So lets win it all for Mr. Wildcat, Bill Keightley. What a story it would be, its about time us Kentucky fans had another story to talk about.
